We all have our soft spots...heavily guarded with our instinctive armour. I think I'm more of a turtle that way...but the mama bear has been known to come out in me from time to time.
i hope it's understood i meant a bug bite in the first graph. this was fun to write. i was so pissed i had writer's block for nearly 24 hours and i got a mosquito bite while dropping the car off at the mechanic. they came together i guess:)
Write a story wth a plot and a central character in EXACTLY 55 words, post it on your blog for Friday, show a link to my site after your story, then come leave a comment on my blog. It's creative, it's challenging, and mostly it's FUN. Thanks for visiting, and I hope to see you next Friday. (I post 8:00 PM EST on Thursday) BTW...Your story was most excellent
haha. you didn't read it wrong, stephanie. i was unclear in my comment, a high crime for a writer! i'm such a goof sometimes:)
i only got the idea for this post while tearing up my leg because of the bite. and i got a little upset that i hadn't written anything and i was breaking my own blogging deadlines. so i kind of wrote this to myself, about how mean i can be to myself sometimes, vicious even.
Those bugs can really bug right? Just so buggy, think happy thoughts and then don't scratch or I'm sure a cat will be glad to scratch you and make you think of something else..haha
Well, I am glad I am not a mosquito..lol At least the pest got you to write...good job. With Halloween around the corner this spooky piece fits right in. :)
Ed I read this with deep meaning, really deep meaning only to find it's about a mosquito bite. It's all in lived experiences and perspective, or so I like to tell myself.
it is deep for me. not carving myself up for not making a deadline is good. but how we treat ourselves is how we treat others. and if i tear myself up, i'm capable of tearing someone else up.
That it is. Can you send me an email and I'll send you what thoughts I have on this piece... what entered my mind. I'd like to see what you think as the writer.
I tried to email you but can only connect through outlook express and I don't want yet another email server on my computer. My email is darlin4321@hotmail.com
a bug bite...goodness ed...my phantasy was going everywhere...haha..the solution could be an insect net above your bed to keep you safe from all kind of intruders...smiles
I've found the same thing with bugbites. For some reason, I can avoid them well enough during the day, but at night when I'm trying to sleep they drive me crazy.
Reading this the first time, I did not see the deeper meaning here. But reading it again and then the comments, I started considering my own "soft spot." Nicely done Ed.
My dear Shutter Bug. Look how popular you've become. You know I hate a crowd. What do I do now? I'll still be readin' even if I go quiet. I swear I'm allergic to mosquito bites! I actually have medication because the little buggers LOVE me. And how they do feed! I can think of little else but the itch and swelling. There's no sleep, no work, no nothing. So I got meds for when they get me. I'll send you some :)

thanks, g-man. hope to see you with my first 55 soon.
Okay, I so read that wrong...now I get it...man! you have some dark thoughts about skeeters! I hate them too.
That's funny! What a great piece to come out of a bug bite!!
I admire you for being inspired by a bug bite. That has never happened to me. But will power?? I have a problem with will power too. Maybe we all do.

but i also feel like i caught my meanness to myself this time, and that was why i was able to write this, sort of as a warning to myself.
thanks so much for coming back and commenting, stephanie. i understand it better now:)

Yesterday blueberry daydreams, today sharp claws. I am careful but I still suspect your paws are soft and gentle.
I thought it was a mosquito bite, so thank you for confirming it. You describe perfectly how it feels. Mosquitoes love me. I'm a tasty morsel.
Love,
Lola
Mosquitoes love me too. :) fun write.
I do the same with bug bites!
ed,
I have the same sort of relationship with skeeters. I have often drawn blood when clawing at their tender targets.
I like the way you set this up. It is tight and visual.
Namaste.............cj
Oh, this gave me a shiver!
You are not going to believe my word verification: musedies. I guess I've been warned.

Little scary this time.. but made a good read...
keep your paws gentle ;)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Craaaap, I thought you meant the big, black kitty cat! You had me on this one, Ed. Great poem for October 1. xo
I'm enjoying your poetic voice her in your plum landscape. What I mean to say is raaaahhrr . . . .
(Is that how you spell it?)
a bug bite...goodness ed...my phantasy was going everywhere...haha..the solution could be an insect net above your bed to keep you safe from all kind of intruders...smiles
you have just one soft spot?
I will refrain from poking you n any or al of them?Sorry about the scratching sessions.
I think I might like to know more of your writing. It's not going to be about scratching all the time, is it?
fun self description,
well done 55.

Hmm.. short post..shd be careful ha..:)
Soft spots are always where we hurt most.

Way to draw blood from writer's block! Nicely done.
Creepy and thrilling. Excellent work.
ed,
i believe you are a wild wolf in human form. :)) x

Thank you for coming by my blog. :)
BTW Ed, Your light is shining. I see it from here. I am glad you are happy. it shows!
Oh, man, is it in the air? You've said so precisely what I've been dealing with lately.
well.... i didnt really relate it to a bug bite... (got that side only after reading the comments..)
i took it more as a threat to someone/something that is threatening us.
in the lines of... "dont mess with me buddy.. you got no idea wat i can do.."
Deep!
Reading this the first time, I did not see the deeper meaning here. But reading it again and then the comments, I started considering my own "soft spot." Nicely done Ed.

I'm proud of you Ed Pilolla. You go get 'em!
thanks for the sweets:)
annie, when i get a car, we have to do lunch:)
I loved reading this and then the back story made it even better. It's amazing what can inspire a wonderful piece like this :0)
I get inspirations like this too when I'm itching to write and cannot come up with something!
Then BAM, mosquito.
I take such things as signs.
Great post, I definitely relate to this looking at it in a darker perspective.
Definitely.
