Pull a pail of sparkles from the stone well. Shave crème from the blue sky. The ocean is reaching out for you.
Climb the eternal tree at dawn. Share secrets with the fish in the deep. Finish a work of art sitting on the easel for decades.
Kiss the face of a goddess. Walk on Spanish tiles in bare feet. Hear me whisper from across the world.
For so many lifetimes, since the father of creation rubbed us together from clumps of clay, we have been opening our baby eyes.
Some of us unfold slowly to the light. Some of us need time to believe it's true.
We are allowed to exist.
As we are.

oh ed i like this a lot...much tender intimacy in this...the shave creme from blue sky...the ocean reaching out..rubbed together from clumps of clay..the magic of creation and being allowed to be and walk on spanish tiles in bare feet..sitting here with bare feet...and can feel them...
thanks, claudia. mixing words and thoughts together over coffee and a red velvet cupcake is a gift:)
and it is better as clumps of clay, as you wrote, than a clump, as i did. made the change. thanks!
you write as only you can eddie.
Hells bells, I had a nice, polite, exemplary compliment ready for your piece until I read the words, 'red velvet cupcake' that derailed my train of thought. Oh, well, I hope your cupcake was good. LOL! I get a red velvet cake with sour cream icing for my birthday every year. One of my favorite cakes. And your write is awesome, as usual. xo
lisa, thanks:)
marion, yeah, mine had sour cream icing. oh so good:)
Ed, I love the tenderness in this, awesome.
So true all should exist as we are and not try to push the fake to far.
WV is chess..hmmm some mind game are you trying to play..haha
take two: thanks, ayala:)
i was signed in with a different account when i first responded.
thanks, pat. what is wv is chess?
nice ed...wanted to hit you up before i head out...really a beautiful place...i wish that place existed where we could just be as we are...
So beautiful...you're special!
brian, have a great holiday. i'm really enjoying dverse:)
andrea, thanks so much:) wonderful to see you.
this is exquisite. the word that came to mind when I read it.
"For so many lifetimes, since the father of creation rubbed us together from clumps of clay, we have been opening our baby eyes"
Loved these lines.... beautifully written :) :)
geraldine, thank you.
madhulika, thank you.
This makes me feel like I'm floating in the warm Pacific Ocean waters off the coast of Hawaii. My most comforting place to be both in reality and in my mind. Thank you.
I wish I could write like this - beautiful! Thank you for your comment re: "Dead aren't voting" - I thought of Chicago when I read the headline!
Your images are delightful, and you know how much I love concrete images!
"Pull a pail of sparkles from the stone well." "Walk on Spanish tiles in bare feet." ...rubbed us together from clumps of clay..."
I like this a lot.
Namaste..........cj
susan, i love those water, too. very, very much:)
kerri, thanks for the read.
cj, without the image, what do we have as writers?
Ed, this is truly magical. You ARE gifted.
mary, thank you. that's very kind of you.
Beautiful, beautiful! Some of us need time to believe...
kim, i know i have. a friend of mine i was traveling with in paris a couple years ago got so irritated with my not wanting to unpack my stuff in someone else's house that she barked, 'ed, you are allowed to exist.'
and i still hear that echo in my head.
crazy, huh?:)
I love the tender words specially these:
Some of us unfold slowly to the light. Some of us need time to believe it's true.
and yet, each slow movement to open makes for a new world, and what grown up could want anything more than to experience a new world the way we did as kids. so i guess being a late bloomer is a gift. i guess:)
I like the way you think, Ed. Your perspective of this world, is quite simply, magical.
deb, thanks so much:) sometimes it's a dark view, but i swing between extremes.
We are allowed to exist... Pretty profound isn't it. That is really smooth with a do list and bucket list combo.deep. thanks...it is not that dark.
I love reading your writing. It makes me want to forget the past and quit worrying about the future and just exist in the now so I can experience the things you describe.
seasideauthor, i thought of this as bright blue, actually. but now that you call the dark element to my attention, i feel it in the second to last line, a little. thanks:)
cindy, thank you:)
this has the depth of feeling of a haiku, but is also somehow light and full of open horizons.
just as we are.
This is just beautiful. I resonate so much with "Some of us need time to believe it's true.". Thank you for sharing this and for linking up with Just Be Enough.
"Some of us unfold slowly to the light"
I love that and how evocative it is, taking time to find our true selves, true beauty in this world.
Thanks for linking to Just Be Enough.
