Tuesday

I have an idea.

I want to feature a local blogger on the news site I run-- and pay him or her $50. (Wish I could pay more but that's the budget for freelance pieces. Yeah.)

Whenever I've seen guest bloggers on mainstream news sites, they're usually news bloggers or sports bloggers, or advice-givers on relationships.

I'm thinking of featuring someone who blogs about his or her life, and anything else that comes to mind, like we're all doing.

I think I'm looking for someone who's been at it for a few years.

I cover Redondo Beach, Calif. Anyone know a good blogger in Redondo Beach or have any suggestions on finding one?

Jason Mraz of Freshness Factor Five Thousand lives in San Diego. Is it near enough to Redondo Beach? That is the only blogger that pops out of mind of the area:)

Oh Ed......I have been at it for years and I blog about life, my life, as you know. Shame I am on the opposite side of the world!

A great idea, though.

And very best of luck with your new job.....

Um, do you think I'm a good blogger? ; )

Although I'm not in Redondo. I'm a few beaches north of you.

If you don't think I'm a good blogger, just lie and tell me I'm too far north. Please. :)

No idea, being in the midwest, but I'm looking forward to the results of your search!

Hey, just a little background on Mraz. He writes his blog just like the rest of us and I know he would do it for 50 bucks. It is his Wordplay that is the news worth reporting and what better interviewer/reporter than the new master himself.

and... Ocean Girl can go and live in Redondo Beach not far from the ocean anyway :) nah...All the best, you'll find one soon.

LOVE this idea! Hope you can find one. I have to think on this one. I wonder if I "know" someone.

This is a good idea- exploring the dynamics behind a blogger's trade and perspective.

Full focus on your new job - like that!
And great idea - a shame I'm not "qualified" by living half a world away and have no long-term experience... ;=)
Hope you will find someone excellent and perfect-fitting soon!

That's a fabulous idea!

Don't think that I know anyone in the Redondo area.

Hey Ed, been catching up on your blog and seriously, with your content, I don't think you should have to pay. IMHO I think a great blogger would be honoured to do a post for you, should be a pay it forward kind of thing, do the same for them and call it even.

Keep up the awesome work and best of luck whatever you do <3

I'm an Aussie, but if I hear of anyone, I'll let you know:)

Good luck Ed. Nice that you want to showcase the everyday. It is what we all live after all. Too far north I fear. At least in the same state, but publication shy....so that would never do :)

All the best Ed, hope it works out great :)

been barely keeping my nostrils above water at this all-day, all-the-time hyper local journalism job. if i have a free moment, it's to disconnect. i don't have any extra creative energy to post. job is over in two weeks. i'm looking forward to not waking up with a sick feeling in my stomach becuz i don't know how i'm going to make deadline and get through the day. thanks for asking, dez. looking forward to catching up on your blog, bro.

aaaaah ... :) then just enjoy the hectic days of a deadline chasing journalist, and call us if you need some paparazzi help ;)

I hope your 70 hour job is not mangling you too badly. I do that many hours off and on with my job as a blood courier. OUCH!

I'm trying a blog experiment on Monday's post. I'll either entertain or go down in flames. But you can't learn to fly until you leap off the cliff.
